The Hideaway, Huntsbury, Christchurch. 

The Hideaway is located on Huntsbury hill overlooking Christchurch City, with stunning views out to sea. Wake up to the sun rising over the ocean and prepare for a day of relaxation or adventure. There are an abundance of activities right on your doorstep from our secluded spot.  The number 27 bus stops directly outside the gate, so it truly could not be easier to get out and about town to explore!​

Activities

Christchurch Tram and Gondola - The Tram takes you through the centre of Christchurch showing you both the old and new sights and giving an informative description of how the city has evolved both before and after the earthquakes. The Gondola experience offers panoramic views of Christchurch, a discovery tour to learn the local history and a cafe and gift shop. You can purchase a package to experience both the tram and Gondola online or in the city center.

Eat & Drink

Tussock Hill Vineyard & Cellar Door Restaurant is a 3-minute drive uphill to the top of Huntsbury Ave and only 1.1km or a 20-minute walk. To sample their delicious sharing plates and locally grown wine, visit them between 10am-4pm Wed-Thurs & 10am-5pm Fri-Sun. 

Cocoa Black Cafe is right down the bottom of the hill and offers delicious coffee and food with a lovely outdoor space to relax in. Go a little further up Wilsons Road into St Martins where you'll find a well-equipped supermarket, pharmacy, Post Shop and the famous Bohemian Bakery, where you cannot go past their Almond Croissants and Sourdough bread! 

Culture

An 8-minute drive into Woolston will have you at The Tannery which is truly unmissable - boutique shopping, sumptuous food, a luxury movie theatre, and all the wellness offerings you could wish for!

Lyttleton is a 15-minute drive through the tunnel, a busy port town with a bohemian vibe, great eateries and superb views. Bus into town then swap to the number 8 to Lyttelton and for an extra special day, take the ferry over to Diamond Harbour for a wander around.

Nature

Huntsbury Reserve, just a short walk up the road, you will find mountain biking, walking and running tracks which will take you up to the summit road, where you will have breathtaking views over Governer’s Bay and, and access to the Traverse track which leads you west toward the Christchurch Adventure Park or East towards Rāpaki Track and out to Godley Heads.
